Metal inserts and plastic plugs: reading fixing sizes
Metric-threaded metal inserts and plastic plugs use different size designations. Start by identifying the mating part and supporting material.

What determines the choice
M6, M8 and M10 identify metric threads; they are not equivalent to an 8 mm or 10 mm size listed for a plastic plug. The mating screw, pitch and engagement depth also need to match.
For a plastic plug, identify whether the supporting material is solid or hollow. Consider the application named for the model, and confirm drilling diameter, hole depth and screw selection from its specific information. One listed size does not define every installation dimension.
This guide brings together Metal anchor 2300-06 and Metal anchor 2300-08 to help you compare their application and connection details.
