Choosing furniture vents: opening and mounting surface
A vent's visible frame and its fitting opening are not the same measurement. Consider placement together with the application's ventilation needs.
What determines the choice
Before choosing a vent, measure the opening, panel thickness and space behind it. Request the model's fitting dimensions rather than estimating the cut-out from the visible frame.
For a replacement, compare retention method and surface finish too. If an appliance occupies the ventilated compartment, follow its requirements for airflow and clearances. A visually similar vent should not be assumed to provide the same air passage.
